What To Expect

What do I wear?
There is no exact dress code for Amistad Community Church. On Sunday Mornings, you will see people dressed from jeans to "Sunday Best" and Wednesday nights are casual. Wear what you feel comfortable in because we wouldn't want anyone to not come because they feel they don't own the "right" clothes. We just want you here!

Where to park?
Our parking lot is limited, but we try hard to leave the spaces closest to the church available for visitors and our older members. You can also park along the street on the side of the church. We encourage our members to park across the street, behind the EMS building to leave as many spaces as possible open for visitors. We have parking lot ushers to accommodate you with a parking spot.

Where will my children go?
For infants and kids up to age 4, we have a nursery and always some loving, caring members to watch them. There are toys to play with and playpens if your baby wants to nap.

For older kids, there are two other classes. One for children from 5 years-8 years and the other is for children from 9 years-12 years. In these classes they will experience God's love for them through relevant Bible teaching, memory verses, music, discussion, and age-appropriate activities

What is Sunday service like?
When you walk in, you will be greeted by ushers and greeters. Service starts with praise and worship. That is when the band leads the congregation in about five songs. The words are projected on a big screen at the front, so everyone can sing along. After that, someone will come up with a few thoughts, a brief five minute message. Then there will be a chance for someone to pray for your needs. At some point, there will be an opportunity to give offering or tithes. This is a chance to give back to God what He has already given to you. If you like, you can be given a visitor information card to fill out and then you can drop it in the offering basket when it is collected. You don't need to worry about people showing up at your home uninvited or pestering you with too many calls. A special tradition we have at Amistad is "greeting time." While music plays, we get out of our seats and say hello to one another. If you don't feel comfortable with this, you are welcome to stay in your place. Lastly, the pastor or another speaker will come up to give the sermon. After the service, we invite you to stay a few minutes and meet some new people, our pastors and leaders.
